Mary and her husband Don live in Viroqua. Mary grew up in Baraboo, WI and graduated from Baraboo Senior High School in 1979. Following high school, she attended UW-Stout and graduated in 1984 with Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. She began her teaching career at Bayfield School District as their kindergarten teacher. She filled that position for one year as a teacher was on a leave of absences. Mary fell in love with the beauty of the Great Lake area and went back and taught for three summer’s school sessions. In 1985 she was offered a teaching position in the Viroqua Area School District and taught kindergarten until 2013. Then, Mary moved into administration as an elementary principal and district gifted and talented coordinator in Menomonie, WI. until her retirement in 2018. Mary enjoys working at Prairie Catholic School part-time as principal, volunteering at the local food pantry in Viroqua and serving as a Vernon County Board Supervisor.
